The Foundation
Operations start from the ground up.
Most companies leave their most expensive asset, their physical infrastructure to the mercy of reactive firefighting and vendor aggregators. Base Layer FM was built to stop the bleeding. Founded by Gabe Clifford, we bring uncompromising technical truth and financial defense to your physical footprint.
From the Mechanical Room to the Boardroom
Gabe’s journey didn’t start behind a spreadsheet; it started in the mechanical room as a Lead Electrician. He didn’t learn facility management from a software dashboard. He learned it by mastering the intricate MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems that dictate whether a building survives or fails under pressure.
Over the last 15+ years, that "boots-on-the-ground" foundation evolved into executive-level facility leadership. Gabe has directed everything from 200,000 sq. ft. heavy industrial facilities with complex ammonia refrigeration to orchestrating critical $5M+ emergency reconstructions. He knows exactly how a building operates and more importantly, he knows exactly where vendors cut corners.
Battle-Tested Leadership
Base Layer FM’s oversight is driven by formal operational training and a history of navigating strictly regulated environments. Having managed infrastructure at MARSEC-level secure docks and participated in high-level, multi-agency security training operations, Gabe brings an uncompromising standard of safety, compliance, and situational awareness to every facility.

Why "Base Layer"?
In the tech stack, the base layer is the core protocol that allows every other application to function safely. In business, your physical facility is that base layer. If your infrastructure is failing, your operations are at risk. We bridge the gap between reactive maintenance and strategic, data-driven infrastructure leadership.
